Michael Peppiatt is an English art historian, curator and writer, famous for his biographies on Francis Bacon. I came across Michael's book 'The Existential Englishman' and was captivated by his work.
His time in Paris covered a period when I lived there myself and his words were wonderfully evocative of a Paris that I knew and loved. His life there with some of the 20th Century's greatest artists gave a captivating insight into the business of 'art' alongside the creative struggles and inspirations of the artists themselves. I spent an enjoyable afternoon with Michael taking these portraits while sharing stories on Paris and discussing his association with Henri Cartier-Bresson and his close relationship with Francis Bacon. Michael is a truly illuminating character.
